I’ve got an artist for a kid! This is an unusual piece for him, usually it’s much darker, like an alien. But I love this one!
Hail! It’s a Calgary thing...#carinthegarage #phew
Mouse #4. Think I’m going to have to keep her locked inside from now on! But I am pleased the she’s not finding them inside my house!
Mouse #3! They are so tiny! She played with it for a while...it would scurry around and she would bring it back to the living room. But I think she just ate it. #gross
So the TV is back! And what a nice time I am having watching Coronation Street. Honestly, that show has been on for 60 years. I watch an episode now and again, mainly in memory of Irene, my mother-in-law (who I miss terribly ). Actually, my parents still watch it! #crazy
LEGO. There’s nothing quite like the feeling when you’ve stepped on a piece of it...
Phoebe update: my son just had to pick up a live (but tiny ) mouse and put it back outside. So my cat has brought in two mice and a bird inside. Part of me is impressed by her feline ability, while the other part of me is mildly horrified. I let her go outside, and this is the result?
Bird update: it’s still alive! Phoebe just enjoys chasing it. This is a shot underneath my coffee table. I’m going to have to pick it up and take it outside...
Has Phoebe actually caught a bird?! I think this little sparrow probably flew into the window, and Phoebe then brought it indoors.
When you are folding laundry, and your cat steals a nicely folded towel #hardworkrarelypaysoff #catsofinstagram #rescuecat #dontshopadopt
Well, the TV is gone, making me realize that the wall is quite bare without it. I figured I can set up another picture there, but the TV actually takes up a lot of space! And it’s the only TV on the house, so I’m getting a lot of reading done!
Phoebe’s favourite spot is perched on top of my walker. Which is fine, except if I want to sit down! #MS #MSsucks
So here’s my TV. It stopped working. First my fridge, now my TV? At least it’s given me a chance to catch up some reading. The globe beside the TB is something I picked up in my 25 years teaching at Crescent Heights. Only a So I Studies teacher would covet a globe! And I think it dates back to about 1946. Germany is divided, but there’s no Israel...
So this is my TV. My TV that used to work, but now doesn’t seem to turn on. First my fridge, now this? At least it is giving me a chance to catch up on my reading! But it is a giant pain!
So I just learned how to look at pictures from one year ago. And not much had changed! Phoebe is hairier and Silas isn’t in soccer this year. He’s taking tennis lessons! This iPhone X keeps surprising me!
The problems of a history degree: you spend a lot of your life watching documentaries on the two World Wars! But is it true? We won’t forget the sacrifices made by millions of people? If you were one of my students, you’ll remember. And that’s 20 years worth of students!
The snow (which is thankfully gone ) reminds me of May 12, 1986. MASSIVE snowstorm! My family was moving into a new modular home, so we were staying with friends. But we weren’t able to go home for about 5 days! And no electricity means no water, as you need electricity to power the water pump! So to flush the toilet, we had to bring snow inside! And boy, was there snow! My dad decided to walk the two miles home, but following the fences was hard because the snow covered every fence! To me, I have a lot of good memories from that crazy snow storm!
Great news. My fridge has died. It needs a new compressor. So right now it is a place to put pictures of my son, but not cold food. Apparently it will take 2 weeks before an appliance repairman can look at it. Sigh... #twoyearsold #Mayisnotstartingoffright
Happy Cinco de Mayo! As you can see, Calgary is not quite ready for Margaritas! #seriously? #winterbegone
May 4 is my grandmother’s 99th Birthday. Good thing she lives in Victoria and not in Calgary! I just got an email asking if I still needed snow removal. Apparently May is now part of our ever lasting winter!
Okay...I’m letting my inner nerd out! I love watching episodes of Fraser!
Phoebe appears displeased with the Flames. #metoo #catsofinstagram #earlysummerforCalgaryFlames
Well, crap. This is not the government I want for Alberta. We’ve done conservative governments before, and I don’t think it ended well.
Sigh...Calgary, I thought we were in the clear for Spring. Nope!
Success! Phoebe is sitting on Silas’ lap! It’s always been too skinny to sit on. A problem I certainly don’t have!
Phoebe enjoying a nap. Turn it up, and you’ll hear her snoring!
One cat is being antisocial on my Neko Atsume app!
Okay, it’s March mother nature! I know we get snow...but -40?
Silas has made a fort in the living room. And Phoebe is loving it!
Phoebe closeup! She went outside for 3 minutes to day. Come March, she might go out for longer!
Sigh...winter had been so lovely! And then this hit. Argh. 😡
Happy Caturday! Phoebe went outside for about 4 minutes. I think it reminded her of the first year of her life, when she must have spent a lot of time outside. That’s why her ears have some serious frost bite. But then we adopted her when she was a year old...no more cold days and nights for her! And tonight it’s supposed to be -40! So now she spends her days on the Chesterfield (oops...my Canadian is showing! )
Phoebe taking a rare opportunity to hang out in “Phoebe town”.
Playing “Ticket to Ride New York”. Well, we WERE, until Phoebe sat on the board, sending the taxis flying.
Okay, my life is boring. Taking a picture of Phoebe sleeping? I think it classifies me as a crazy cat lady... #catsofinstagram #sheissohairy
