Look for the empty trails. #outside
I'm so glad to be only having access to a backyard right now because I'm part of that Boomerang Generation.
So I read this article today. It talks about the dehumanizing time we are living in. How technology, stagnation, and economic inequality are coming together to remove our humanity. Anyways, I really felt it. And I thought other people might want to read it too. So I put the link to the article in my bio, if y'alls want to check it out.
Let's talk about how much of a garbage pile the American healthcare system is... Yesterday, I went xc skiing, and I'm not an artist with two sticks attached to my feet. So I fell awkwardly and sprained my ankle. NBD just a sprain, I can handle that at home. But at 3am last night, I woke up in a panic. What if I tore a ligament or something? Something more serious that requires...a doctor's visit??? *bum bum buuuum* How long would it take to get an appointment? (Could be quite a long time. ) How much would it cost to get it checked out?? (An unknown amount, but you bet it would be a large sum. ) How many other appointments would I need and how much would they cost?? (Separate appointments = more money and more time. ) Where will I be living and what insurance will I have for all those other appointments?? (Right now, I'm on Idaho Medicaid, because I tried one of the most American of things: starting a business. But I don't have income yet....which means Medicaid. BUT I haven't gotten any information from Idaho about it, and am completely unsure if they just lost my paperwork OR I am covered. Next, I've applied to several jobs in different states, which means getting on different state healthcare OR maybe just maybe the job would offer healthcare. All of that leads to a lot of paperwork, waiting for cards, and searching on provider websites for a doctor that's "in network". Which means that if I went to the doctor now and was given successive appointments, and then moved, I'd have to go to the doctor again in another state to be given successive appointments in that state. I know health care costs money&time, that's a given. But there should not be all this other garbage associated with our system. The worrying and wondering, the waiting for "proof of coverage cards", the searching for an "in network" doctor, the getting served with a bill of unknown amount at the end and hating yourself for going to the doctor in the first place. It should be easy. I think people deserve to not wake up at 3am, panicking about having to partake in our garbage system because they fell while xc skiing with their friends. (And don't even get me started on picking a plan. )

Poor man's Christmas decorating on point!
Spent an awesome Saturday in Spokey, both terrified of how many people were packed into downtown doing their shopping. Lol like 20 people packed into our elevator in the parking garage and I was panicking. But new board game was found, chai latte existed, and the light on the buildings was just really pleasant. And also seeing tall buildings together (that weren't grain silos... ) was very striking. Not pictured: epic ancient herbal brews from Bellweather Brewing. So good.
High elevation sagebrush communities are perfect and I wish I could live for eternity in this spot. #theearthoutdoors #exploreeverywhere #outdoorwomen #wildernessculture #wildvisuals #radgirlscollective #campeveryday #outdoortones #takemoreadventures #rei1440project #optoutside #roam247 #staywander #briskoutdoors #takemebackpacking #ventureout #campingcollective #theoutbound
This was the epic, clear skies view to end a very rainy July 4th backpacking trip in Banff National Park, Canada. I don't know what those mountains are called, but I do know they're epic and I'm glad they exist. #hikingbangers #herwanderfullife #adventureenthusiasts #theearthoutdoors #exploreeverywhere #outdoorwomen #campvibes #wildernessculture #trekkingtoes #wildvisuals #radgirlscollective #campeveryday #outdoortones #takemoreadventures #rei1440project #optoutside #roam247 #staywander #briskoutdoors #takemebackpacking #ventureout #campingcollective #theoutbound

We took the truck out for a spin, to check out a berry patch I remembered from last season -- and memory served! We brought them home and baked them into little baby tartlets ( #rusticstyle ) and it was crazy delicious. I feel super lucky to have experiences like these. I mean, I'm seriously trying to figure out how to mail some of these fresh, forest-grown, wild-harvested berries to my parents -- who have never had the opportunity to taste them. It also makes me super excited for fall-time mushroom hunting. (Chantrelles here I come! ) #foraging #earthlings #huckleberry
I'm a total wuss when I'm in my tent at night and suddenly wake up to hear snuffling and scratching nearby or branches snapping far off in the forest. It's definitely not a deer or an excited mouse finding some tiny morsel of food that missed my mouth. And it most definitely IS the chupacabra come to suck my soul out from my nose-holes. And there's definitely nothing I can do about it because there's no way I'm getting out of my sleeping bag and facing that monster in the dark. This is what ear plugs are for. Yoooo I just finished my very first solo backpacking trip!! This may not sounds like a big deal to a lot of you guys - but if you know me, you know I never even hike alone. To make myself more comfortable with the solo experiment, I chose a trail I'm super familiar with: the Tahoe Rim Trail. Now I'm like: Why don't I go hiking alone?? Pics coming soon! 😄 This photo is from a different trip in Glacier National Park. And the flower in the foreground is Common Camas. #trekkingtoes #wildvisuals #radgirlscollective #campeveryday #outdoortones #takemoreadventures #rei1440project #optoutside #takemebackpacking #backpacking #hikingsolo #solobackpacking
